| Where we are
Le Marche lies on the eastern side
of central Italy, between Tuscany and The Adriatic Sea.
Some call it ‘the new Tuscany’
but that denies Le Marche its’ own identity. We
think it is more like the ‘real Italy’ and
without hoards of tourists.
You get the impression that you are discovering hidden
villages where time has stood still. Driving along winding
roads you are greeted by endless views of rolling hills,
fields of vine, sunflowers, fruit and olive trees dotted
with sandy coloured farmhouses. Towards the Sibilini
Mountains the scenery becomes a little more rugged and
wild. The coast, on the other hand offers sandy beaches,
sun loungers, palm trees, beachfront restaurants, nightlife
and shopping.
Few areas can offer such an alluring and unspoilt rural
setting together with great beaches and ancient historic
towns. In Le Marche culture comes in easily digestible
proportions which is not to say that the quality is
not of the very best.
Montalto delle Marche is situated in the heart of the
province of Ascoli Piceno, halfway between the Sibilini
Mountains and the coast. The village lies at 513m above
sea level and the area has a special beauty: high mountains
and rough ridges, soft hills and old villages with flair.
The Piceno area is rich in art treasures. Collections
of art objects of unique beauty: religious artefacts,
altars, statues etc all exhibited in the region’s
many museums.
